01. What Doodles are bred at Red Barn?

We breed all generations and sizes of Bernedoodles (bernese and poodle), Mini Aussie Mountain Doodles (aussiedoodle and bernedoodle), Cavapoos (cavapoo and poodle), Teddy Bears (cavapoo and bernedoodle) and occasionally AKC Bernese Mountain Dogs.

Since we are a small breeder, we only take a limited number of families for our waitlists. Because who wants to wait years for a puppy?! We announce the opening of our waitlist on our homepage and on social media, so be sure to follow us on FB and IG. If you are interested in one of our puppies, please complete our Puppy Application, so that we can reach out to you. We require a $300 Puppy Reservation Deposit after a family chooses their forever puppy; which goes toward the total adoption fee.

Puppies will stay here, with us, mom and siblings, until 8 weeks of age. Puppies taken from their litter too early, very often, deal with personality and behavior issues. Puppies left after 8-9 weeks of age can have bonding issues with their family.

Yes! All of our puppies will go to their homes with a vet check and will have received their rst round of shots and be dewormed.

Yes! We offer a 1 year health guarantee for all genetic and major congenital health issues. If the puppy is found to have a genetic or major congenital medical disorder and the new owner feels they are unable to keep the puppy, they can return the puppy to the breeder with a written letter from their veterinarian explaining the condition for either a refund (Minus deposit) or a puppy from the next available litter.
All puppies are raised on Puppy Culture Training, including additional ENS training up to 8 weeks of age. Puppies spend lots of time around us, our grandchildren, our ranch animals, as well as spending time around friends and family to help them get comfortable with new faces.
All puppies are litter box trained starting at 3 weeks of age, then at 5 weeks old, they move on to using a doggie door to go to grass to potty. We start crate training at 4 weeks of age. By the time puppies go home, they are used to crate time during the days and sleeping in a crate all night. By 8 weeks of age, most are sleeping in the crate through he night. Occasionally, someone wakes up to potty between 2:00AM and 3:30AM, then goes back to sleep. We use our version of Triangle Potty Training method to achieve these results.
Here at Red Barn we breed for 1st: Genetics, 2nd: Disposition and 3rd: Coat Colors & Curl. All of our Doodle puppies come from fully health tested parents, using Animal Genetics and Canine Health Check. We also work alongside our team of veterinarians to keep parents and puppies up to date and healthy, on a regular basis!
Well, the answer is not a simple “Yes”. In general, they are considered a hypoallergenic breed due to the genes that they inherit from their Poodle parent/grandparent. As they also inherit some of the Bernese or Aussie coat, the F1 generation isn’t considered completely hypoallergenic and non-shedding. But rather, they are typically very low shedding. The rst-generation backcross or an F1b has a much higher chance of having a non-shedding coat.
No, they are not. Doodles are not recognized by the AKC because AKC doesn’t recognize designer breeds. Still, we are hopeful they may be recognized by the major kennel clubs soon. All of our purebred parents here at Red Barn are AKC or CKC Registered.
The Small Standard Bernedoodle should weigh between 50 to 65 pounds and stand between 23 to 26 inches at the shoulder. Our Mini or Miniature Doodles should weigh between 30 to 50 pounds and stand between 18 to 21 inches at the shoulder. Our Micro Mini Doodles should weigh between 20 to 30 pounds and stand between 11 to 16 inches at the shoulder. Our Super Micro Doodles should weigh 10 to 20 pounds and stand 11 inches at the shoulder or less.
Yes, they do because all dogs are meant to bark and our Doodles are no exception. The good news is that their peaceful demeanor means they rarely ever use it and you can control this behavior with proper training.
Yes, they do. You need to brush their coat regularly to keep their coat from tangling and matting, failing to brush can result in irritative skin and other related health issues. They require grooming from a professional groomer every 2-3 months, whether you keep their coat long or short. We suggest bathing your doodle at home every 4-6 weeks in order to keep them from getting dry, irritated skin. We also recommend families to do inhome monthly trimming around ears, eyes, brows and private areas, as well as clipping nails; all of which, may extend visits to the groomer and save money.
Overall, they are water lovers and would not hesitate to swim whenever they get a chance. But some Doodles may not like water and in fact, they may even hate to be bathed. If you love swimming, you should start exposing your Doodle puppy to water and indoor pools so they could develop this habit with age. Always remember to use a doggie life vest
Here at Red Barn, crate training is a MUST, for both establishing a safe place for your puppy and to ward against separation anxiety! Doodles create a very strong bond with their owners and prefer to be the center of attention all the time. So, they are more likely to develop separation anxiety if left alone for long periods of time. This behavior can be controlled through crate training at an early age.
